In this demonstration the instructor starts off by explaining the very fundamentals of using Photoshop for texturing. From there he goes into depth on how to set up your high res and low res meshes for rendering Normal, AO, and other Maps.

Once the scene and basics have been defined it's on to the entire texturing process of the self contained scene. Everything from the Diffuse, to Spec, Normal, and even a little Emissive and Alpha Maps.
The Main textures created are a Concrete Texture set, Wood, Cloth, Grass, Ground, and Metal.

In this DVD, David Levy demonstrates the Adobe Photoshop techniques that he uses to create environ- ments for the entertainment industry. He specifically reveals the custom brush creation techniques that have been perfected by a small group of passionate artists in Montreal. From two basic brushes, David shows you how to develop your own library of custom brushes that will allow you to gain speed and efficiency during your speedpainting process. Beginning with examples such as mountains, forests and clouds, David then leads you through the creation of a concept art painting, from rough sketches to a final piece with environment, vehicles and characters. Using texture brushes, you will then learn to refine and complete the painting without losing the original dynamism and composition of the sketch. Our subject is a dingy back alley, the kind of place you might find behind an urban restaurant, complete with grime and graffiti?.a perfect setting for getting the most of modo.

The first album tackles the creation of a key low poly prop in the scene; a lowly dumpster. All of the details of this intricately molded form are faithfully reproduced in a subdivision surface model that is provided for you. Using this original model, Andy shows how detail can be transferred to a new low poly version of the model (that you create using supplied techniques) so that it can be liberally used throughout the level without worrying about breaking the geometry or texture budget. Geometric detail is transferred to a low poly object via normal map baking and subtle lighting is then given to the model?s nooks and crannies via ambient light occlusion baking. Additional modeling, 3D painting and baking operations let you add realistic final touches and variation to the finished trash bin.
